Dinerman,

Isn't it great! Turn-of-the-century flowered tile floor. That's how it's described in the book "Counter Culture Texas" by Suzie Kelley Flatau.

This diner is so authentic. They talked about remodeling the place when I was there last, but honestly, I hope they never do.

[...] Married Leos wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerpt Yes it’s small, the building is about twelve foot square. Yes it’s old, they’ve been making burgers here for 50 or 60 years. According to the owner of The Burger Bar, the building was originally the office area for a wagon yard. That’s wagon as in horse and wagon. The barn burned down leaving only this tiny building which became a taxi stand then a used car lot and then finally The Burger Bar. The grill they cook on is 100 years old and the owner credits it for the great taste of the burger [...]

the people that have hammonds bbq are noway what soerver family or related to the hammond family. i dont no who told you they were our family. i will tell you that you need to get your story right.i think you need to redo this page. if you have any questions you can ask me. if you want the best bar b que you need to go to the loco coyote in glen rose its the real thing. - tom hammond

Note:
In the original version of my post on Hammond's BBQ I said that the business had "been operated by the same family, more or less...since 1966." The truth is that the Hammonds ran the business from 1966 until 1997. In 1997 Hammond's BBQ was sold to Darrell Caldwell. The business has been operated since then by Darrell and his relatives. Information on the history of the business is available at www.hammondsbbq.com. I thank Mr. Hammond for setting me straight. I have corrected the article.
