Somervell County Museum in Glen Rose Texas
If you have ever been to Dinosaur Valley State Park, you may know that it can be hard to find the dinosaur tracks there. They are mostly in the river bed which is under water most of the time. You get the idea?
Fortunately, the Somervell County Historical Museum has a track on display. It’s not even indoors, it’s outside, where you can see it even if the museum is closed. One should never go home from a visit to Glen Rose without seeing a dinosaur track.
The track they have on display was excavated during construction of the Comanche Nuclear Power Plant. This track, made many millions of years ago by an acrocanthosaurus, is one of several tracks found at this locations several miles north of Glen Rose.
Where is it
The museum is located on the historic town square in Glen Rose Texas. Call the Somervell Historical Museum for hours, (254)897-4529. Admission is free, but as I said, the track is outside.
