Susan,

I'm not able to answer your questions. Usually the identity of the craftsmen that worked on the courthouse are lost in time unless their names happened to be recorded by the county clerk. You might try contacting the curator of collections at the Courthouse-on-the-Square Museum. Use the link in the article above.

Good luck.

Viewing all info about Denton County Courthouse & find it truly remarkable & very exciting! While visiting relatives in Corinth, TX, in 2008, drove around courthouse square & then snapped some exquisite photos of the courthouse. This building holds special meaning for me as my grandfather helped build this beautiful courthouse in 1896. He was a stone mason. Would you have information about the actual construction of the courthouse? Names of workmen? What can you tell me about the monument, "Our Confederate Soldiers" that stands at the end of the front walkway? When was that constructed?

Unfortunately, time did not permit me to visit the museum the day I was there & I truly regret that. I live in NJ (a proud Yankee) & my father (a true Texan) was very proud of his Texas heritage. I certainly hope to return to Denton for further exploration in the near future.

Any info you can provide will be appreciated. Sincere thanks!
